Rockley Point

Info

This is our original centre, founded in 1976, based in beautiful Poole Harbour, Europe's largest natural harbour. The centre uses some of the UK's safest and most idyllic sailing waters.

Close to the busy port of Poole and the ancient Saxon walled town of Wareham, Rockley Point is the gateway to picturesque and historic Dorset. The centre benefits from the facilities of the adjacent Holiday Park and provides a comfortable and rewarding activity holiday.

Rockley Point is possibly the most highly regarded sailing centre in Britain. This reputation, of which we are very proud, has been earned over the years by the dedication, hard work and expertise of our members of staff.

Poole Harbour is the perfect place in Britain in which to enjoy watersports. We also cater for many family and individual bookings - a rarity for school activity trip operators.  Rockley Point probably trains more Dinghy Instructors than any other centre in the UK and we provide staff training for companies such as Neilson, Sunsail and Center Parcs as well as Instructor training and qualifications for Local Authority centres and many UK and International Sailing Clubs.

Nature

Poole Harbour is not just a picturesque and safe place to learn to sail, it also offers a fantastic range of some of the UK's most exciting wildlife.  Make sure you keep a look out for some of the following when you are sailing in the Harbour...

Oystercatchers and Cormorants
lots of gulls - Black Headed, Herring, Lesser Black-Backed
Common Terns
Grey Herons
Little Egrets
even Avocets (the emblem of the RSPB!) and Spoonbills
perhaps most exciting of all, Ospreys and Peregrines

That's just in the air! In the water look out for...

Common Seals
Sea Bass - a big fish
Dolphins - just outside the Harbour!

Best of all there are Sea Horses, you are unlikely to see them but they do live in the patches of eel grass growing in the Harbour and in Studland Bay.
