Insurance

The cost of our overseas trips includes travel insurance cover for all members of the group (except anyone normally resident outside the UK).

Our trip travel insurance is underwritten by Royal & Sun Alliance plc and Groupama Insurance Company Limited on a scheme administered on their behalf by Towergate Underwriting personal accident and travel.

Some groups will have insurance arranged by Fogg Travel Insurance Services Limited - please check with your Group Leader which insurer is covering your Group.

Medical Conditions

If your child has a pre-existing medical condition they can still be covered by the policy, although any claim resulting from a pre-existing medical condition is likely to be excluded.  Excluded pre-existing medical conditions are, however, likely to be covered under the reciprocal health agreements between member countries of the EU which is why we advise all members of a school group should apply for a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) see also Before the Trip.

If your child has a pre-existing medical condition (for definition see below), you MUST telephone us on 01202 677272, write, or email us on schoolsadmin@rockleywatersports.com to provide brief confidential details of the pre-existing condition. We can then liase with our insurers to confirm that your child can still be covered by the standard policy.

A pre-existing medical condition can be defined as follows:

i) any heart condition, stroke, severe asthma, ongoing or recurring chest condition or cancer for which the Insured Person has ever received treatment or,
ii)

any medical condition for which the Insured Person has received or been referred for hospital or specialist treatment, surgery or investigation during the 12 months immediately proceeding 1st February 2008 or,

iii) any medical condition for which medication prescribed to the Insured Person has changed in any way during the 3 months proceeding 1st February 2008.

It is your responsibility to provide your child’s Group Leader and/or Rockley Adventure with full medical information regarding your child in order for full insurance cover to be provided.

Allergies and Asthma

With respect to the following, specific pre-existing medical conditions, the insurers have confirmed that any claims resulting from these conditions are covered by the travel insurance policy.

i)

Nut Allergy Covered provided that the Insured Person takes adequate precautions (eg keeps any prescribed medication for treatment on their person

ii) Wasp Sting Allergy Covered provided that the Insured Person takes adequate precautions (eg keeps any prescribed medication for treatment on their person)
iii) Asthma Covered provided that it is well controlled (eg nebulising inhaler is used when required) and the Insured Person has not been hospitalised in the last 6 months
iv) Penicillin Allergy Covered (reaction to treatment as opposed to a medical condition)

Valuables

Please advise your child NOT to take valuable items of clothing (eg expensive jackets), cameras, jewellery or other electrical products, especially mobile telephones.  For personal safety reasons jewellery should NOT be worn during activity sessions.

Cancellations

Please read our Conditions of Booking.  Where cancellation charges apply you are liable to pay them.

Where a cancellation occurs as a result of an event covered by the terms of the insurance policy, cancellation charges can be reclaimed through the insurers subject to certain conditions.  Please see the relevant Policy wording for more information, this can be found in Downloads.

If you have any questions regarding a claim, please contact our schools administration team on 01202 677272 or schoolsadmin@rockleyadventure.com.

Claims – Loss, Damage or Theft

You should remind your child that they should take all reasonable steps to safeguard property.  The insurer will not cover valuables left unattended on a beach for example.

Please note that your child MUST report all losses or thefts within 24 hours of discovery either to their Group Leader or to a senior member of Rockley Adventure staff so that the Police and/or our Rockley Adventure centre Manager can be notified and obtain written confirmation of loss/theft reports.

In the event of damage, your child MUST report all details to our Centre Manager and ask them to complete an Insurance Report.

When your child returns home, you should contact either our schools administration team or your child’s Group Leader to obtain the appropriate insurance claim form from us.

Claims – Individual Cancellation

In the event of cancellation, you MUST notify your child’s Group Leader/school in writing or via email as soon as possible.

Upon receipt of notification of your child’s cancellation from your child’s Group Leader we will issue the appropriate claim form and a cancellation invoice, which confirms the amount forfeited.
